Hello! My name is Chaston Young, and I am the mother of a 5 year old named Averee Young. Averee was born with Walker Warburg Muscular Dystrophy which is the most severe and rarest form of Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. As a result of her diagnosis, Averee also has Hydrocephalus, therefore she has excess fluid on her brain. In order to help with this, she has a shunt placed to drain the excess fluid off. Additionally, she has Congenital Glaucoma meaning she is legally blind. Lastly, she has Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, better known as epilepsy. Due to these conditions, she has a trach to be able to breath and is on a ventilator during the night, so she can breath and sleep. She is the textbook definition of a fighter, incredibly strong and beyond brave. Despite her conditions, she brings light to my and everyone’s life she is around. She is loved dearly and deserves the world. We live in East Tennessee. I, personally, was born and raised here just as the generations before me were, and my children to come will be as well. We love this area dearly and are very proud of our roots. I am writing in order to reach out to you because we are needing assistance to better fit the needs of our fighter, Averee or Bravery Averee as we all know her. Averee, being the fighter she is, is kicking her condition in the butt and exceeding her expectations. With that being said, she is growing!! In order to maintain her care to the level the conditions require and she deserves, our house is in need of some remodeling. Averee is needing a lift to better help getting her out of bed and to the bathroom. Along with the that, a bigger bathroom is needed in order for her to be more comfortable and warmer while taking a bath. Furthermore, we are needing to add an addition on to our home to provide easier access for EMS to be able to get to her and provide her with adequate care; the care that she deserves. As of right now, they cannot get back to her room, much less being able to get into our house with the stretcher that we have to carry her on. We are not in a place where we can afford these remodels, and the gear is so very expensive. At this point in time, my husband is the only providing income. Averee is so very loved, such a joy, and a gift to this earth. Not only are these her needs, she deserves them. She is such a blessing, and she is more than deserving of these things. I ask that you please consider helping in any way possible. It would be so greatly appreciated and more than words could ever describe. Bravery Averee would definitely appreciate it as well.
