Before continuing to read this, just know that we are well aware there are plenty of people in the same predicament and once on our feet we have the intention on helping others that have fallen on hard times as well.
Due to a series of unfortunate events (thanks covid) we have fallen behind on rent and other bills. We now have one month to find a new place to live. I am about to start a new job which will hopefully be my career, and quite honestly an amazing opportunity so we are more than thankful for that. But we don't have money saved like many other young families with a child or children especially living on long Island.
We're going to need to find a 1-2 bedroom apartment to rent until we can finally move out of New York.
It's taking a lot of suppressing my pride to ask for help like this but at this moment I don't know how else to come up with first and last months rent and a security deposit (in hopes we can find a place without a broker's fee) in such short notice when I don't start my job for another 2 weeks and we have to be out at the end of March, on top of making sure our other bills are paid.
This was all horrible timing - I mean I guess there is no right time to lose your home right? - but I'm trying to do everything in my power to make sure I don't have to bring my wife and 5 year old son to a shelter.
