Jackie Dobbins Medical Funds

Story

Funds Needed to Support Brain Surgery and Recovery for Jackie Buccanero Dobbins Hardworking Mother, Selfless Caregiver, and Tireless Community VolunteerPLEASE SHARE AND HELP:  The family and friends of Jackie Buccanero Dobbins urgently request your help with donations to cover the cost of medical expenses and recovery for an amazing, hardworking woman facing unexpected expenses and a long road to recovery following brain surgery on June 15, 2016. Anything you can give is much needed and appreciated.Jackie is a kind, down-to-earth, hardworking person with a heart of gold that would never ask for anything and has always put everyone else first.  Today, we put her first. For over a year, Jackie has suffered with severe head and neck pain, which has made it increasingly challenging to care for her family, work and continue her volunteer activities in the community.  After several tests and many months of fighting through debilitating pain, doctors discovered that she had an uncommon condition, Chiari Malformation, in which the brain slips into the spinal canal causing a cyst (Syringomyelia) to form in her spinal canal and her brain to swell (Hydrocephalus) requiring critical brain and spinal surgery.  The recovery is long and painful. Jackie has difficulty moving following surgery and will be unable to work for some time. And, although she has some insurance through her work, it will do little to cover the costs of surgery, recovery or her living expenses while she is unable to work. Donations are urgently needed.Jackie has been a single, sole-supporting mother and caregiver for her daughter (pictured above) and brother whom have relied on her for support for many years. She has given tirelessly to family and friends throughout her life, including acting as an in-home caregiver for her father until his passing, and serving as a mother to a younger cousin that lost his own mother. Even though Jackie hasn’t had much, she’s always given of her time and what little she had to those in need. For 27 years, she has put her heart and soul into her job as the program director for WUPY 101 FM, a small radio station in the Upper Peninsula.  Even with limited income in a difficult market, she has worked hard to support local businesses and the community as a whole. She has quietly been a part of an endless number of charitable organizations including working with Ontonagon County Animal Protection (OCAP) where she tirelessly and regularly took the 6 a.m. shift to care for the animals before going to work. Today, this kind, caring, hardworking, selfless woman needs our help. Please help us relieve the burden on Jackie so she can focus on her recovery. Thank you for your time and support!
