Read their stories below:
My name is Martin and I am a recent graduate from Community Health Advocates School (CHAS) in South LA. I have been accepted to California State University, Stanislaus but my economic and documentation status are hurdles that I am currently facing. My school is providing a small financial aid package that only covers 25% of school expenses. I wasn’t offered loans and have searched all of my available resources. Although I have been told that there is no further financial assistance available, I am not one to give up! My college counselor Ms. Reyes has supported my continued efforts and asked me to apply for as many scholarships as possible, and to ask for donations. I really want to go to college and share the experience that hundreds of other students across the country will be taking part in this year, the opportunity to further my education and to make something of myself. I would be the first in my family to attend a University. I was raised in a single-family home, with a mother who raised four boys on her own and currently has a disability due to a work injury. I would be forever thankful to those who can help in any way, to support me in this journey. I believe America is a place where dreams come true and my American dream is to have the opportunity to get an education and be of contribution to my family, my community, and to this country.
My name is Carolina and I graduated from Community Health Advocate School with Martin. I graduated High School with honors and have been accepted to Cal Poly Pomona and CSU Humbolt. Both schools are offering me a limited amount of money and I am not eligible to apply for student loans. I am currently facing the possibility of being unable to accomplish my dreams of attending a 4-year school due to financial limitations. I am prepared to work twice as hard as everyone else to succeed in college, even if it means working three times as hard by taking on a job, while studying; I want to be the first in my family to graduate from a four-year college. I am asking for financial contributions so that I can accomplish my dreams and attend school. Thank you, ahead of time, to any one and all who can help make my dream become a reality. I dream of a bright future, and I am certain that obtaining an education will give me direct access to a future filled with prosperity and success.

No me he rendido y he decidido que estoy destinado a hacerlo.
