Hello, My name is Michael and I am a parent to a disabled 41 year old man who is being cared for by ABILITY BEYOND a non-profit organization located in Bethel, Ct. This wonderful organization is caring for over 3000 disabled persons in NY and Ct. It operates over 32 group homes. It is important that we advocate for Ability because it provides a home, a job, community involvement, security and peace of mind. Unfortunately, the funding levels for organizations like Ability are being cut in NY and Ct because of budget problems. Ability strives to keep families involved in their mission and involved with their loved ones. A project that I have been asked to head up is for our outreach family picnic which will be held on September 17th. I proposed running this picnic on a voluntery basis where we raise funds to support the picnic; but, more importantly reaise funds to support Abilty Beyond which is struggling to maintain services. Supporting this organization is important to me because I worry that my son Stephen will not receive needed care and services in the future. So I am asking all who read my plea will donate whatever amount you feel comfortable with to help us reach our goal.
