Jill Collard is a beloved co-worked of mine, a bartender at Cirino’s at Main Street. She is an amazing friend, wife, and step-mother, and is an absolute pleasure to know, loved by all who have met her. Jill is in need of some help right now, and I’m confident that her community – friends, family, co-workers, and customers – can pull together and raise the money she needs.
Jill and her husband, Keith, moved to Grass Valley in 2015 with their two teenage daughters. They loved it here and hit the ground running. Soon after the move, though, Jill started to feel tired a lot, more than was normal. She pushed through the fatigue. When it did not go away, she went to the doctor. She then learned that she needed a hysterectomy. She had major fibroids in her uterus and that’s why she had been feeling so worn out. At that time, she had insurance through Covered California and was able to have surgery in August. After nine weeks of recovery, she was back to work – still not feeling quite like herself, but working through her pain with a smile on her face and an eternally positive spirit. After numerous trips to the doctor and more months of exhaustion and pain, she found out that she needed another surgery to remove her ovaries, which had developed cysts. Three days before the scheduled surgery, the hospital called to say that they would require a $9,000 down payment, an overwhelming amount for Jill. After some tears, she moved into solution mode. She no longer had Covered California, and worked hard to find other avenues. After exhausting all payment possibilities, the only good news is that they were able to get insurance coverage for their daughters. Jill and Keith are still uninsured.
At this time, the only option for surgery is to come up with the $9,000. Jill has not asked anyone for help, but she did pray for it. I hope we can all come together and be the answer to her prayers.
