Recreating Cartoons For Brown Babies & Families
Donation protected
Hi Family,
After having my beautiful brown daughter, I was discouraged by the lack of diversity in the cartoons she watch. Brown kids are hardly ever seen in the nursery rhymes. You may get one or two sprinkled in, if you’re lucky; and seeing a beautiful brown family is even rarer than that! By the time a child is 3, at least 90% of their brain has been formed, and their view of the world has been shaped, and embedded into their subconscious minds.
What message do you think is being sent to them, subconsciously, when they hardly see kids and families that look like them portrayed in the cartoons they watch? And how do you think OTHER kids FEEL about THEM, when they don’t see them in the cartoons, and nursery rhymes, during the most important time of their lives, when their little brains are developing so rapidly?
I want my baby, and brown babies all over the entire world to feel seen, valued, and loved. I want them to know that they matter enough to be the main character too! I want them to see families that look like them, HAPPY, and loving one another. I want other races to SEE them, and celebrate their differences. My mission is to create such a channel with old nursery rhymes and new songs, as well.
I won’t be doing the Three Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed Song though. I think it’s dumb and it actually encourages my child to jump on the bed just to see for herself. SMH
Let’s CREATE the things we want to see more of!
Quality content takes money and resources
This start up money will be used for production. Talented animators, original songs, and old nursery rhymes.
I want to thank you in advance for helping make this vision a reality for young children all over the world!
Sincerely,
Erica Galloway
