To our Dear Family & Friends,
As many of you know our sister Courtney Hudnall & our brother Taylor Gilbert welcomed their precious son, Maverick Koe Gilbert into this world on February 16th at 10:23am. He weighed 7lbs. 3oz. & 21” long. He has his Daddy’s nose & his Mommy’s chin & he’s beautiful from head to toe. We are very proud Aunts!
However, Maverick was born with an Imperforate Anus & a Tethered Spine. As Mommy had to sit in her hospital bed crying out of fear, sadness & heartbreak not being able to have the joy many of us do when your baby is first handed to you. Maverick had to be transported to Cooks Children’s Hospital FW, where Daddy met him there. After going through many diagnostic scans & tests, baby Maverick had to undergo his first surgery, having a colostomy bag inserted into the side of his abdomen. Scans & tests came in 24 hours later which is when they discovered his tethered spine. Although, his spine could possibly be fixed on its own with time, Imperforate Anus cannot. Maverick will be undergoing several surgeries from this day forward.
We do not know yet how many surgeries or exactly how old he will be before it is all completed. We continue to pray & ask for all of your prayers as well, as we stand in our Faith & know that God is in complete control & there is a purpose for this, although we do not know what it is. We don’t ask questions, we just give Maverick completely to God to heal this handsome & loved baby boy to make him whole again. At this moment, we still do not know when Maverick will be able to go home. He is still at Cooks Children’s.
As the sisters, of Taylor & Courtney we decided to start this GoFundMe as a way to help them pay for bills (since time is being missed of work, in order to be there for Maverick), to help with any unforeseen medical bills that may come out of this also. GoFundMe does require that we put in a specific dollar amount, we just ask that you pray about what you can do in order to help this young family with their first child.
We continue to thank you for the outpour of love, support & prayers as their journey continues.
God Bless you ALL!
