Were asking for help in more ways than just this. Advice, connections to people who can help, and just someone to care. Thank you for your time.
My name is Ashley, and I am Jude Clough's daughter. I am reaching out to everyone I know for help. Anyone who knows my Mom knows how kind and selfless she is. Her life has been far from easy, but she rose above and fought every challenge head on. Never for one second letting my brother and I go without. If she had two of something you could have 1 and 1/2. As most of her family and friends know, she has been battling not being able to hold down food, extreme weight loss, fatigue, confusion, vision issues, constant pain, and uncontrollable blood sugars just to name a few for years now. Every room in our home is set up with anything she could need at any moment. She suffers every day from the moment her eyes open till they close for the few hours she sleeps until it all starts again. Sadly, for the past year she has been spending most time in one room, because it is the easiest on her. An sleeping in her bed with my step-dad is no longer an option due to the fact that she either does not sleep or is up and down all night. On days that she feels 1/2 well she pushes herself too far trying to make up for the days lost and trying to help other families in the area.
My mother has been to countless doctors just to be passed on to the next. Each saying you are too complicated and fragile for me. She finally landed at Temple Hospital with the best they have to offer and even he cannot figure out what is wrong with her. One medication after another, one treatment after another and in the end they do not work. Each one costing more than the last. Her doctor at temple has fought hard this whole time and is doing as much as he can. Even practically forcing her previous insurance, who had approved the procedure before dropping her plan, to hold up their end of the commitment. All this work and even these doctors are beginning to exhaust their resources. We are now discussing the feeding tube option, though she is so scared of that. She has lost over 80 pounds in the last year...something must give.
Recently my Mom got a call saying she is much sicker than we thought. She has been misdiagnosis for years with Type 2 Diabetes when in fact she is a Type 1 Diabetic. Her pancreas is now shot and all the Type 2 meds (that did nothing but cost a lot of money) has weakened her kidneys and liver. Like all of this was not enough, the financial burden is drowning them. I have watched my Mom work so hard to get to a point that she can take care of, not just her children but herself. She thought she made it.... just enough money to make the bills and meeting the love of her life.........and now to have her financial security ripped out from under her at the hardest time of her life.
In a month it costs my Stepfather $1000 just to keep her on his health insurance. Which is completely outrageous. It costs her $150 just to walk into her Dr office in temple. Another $150 for endocrinologist and another $40 to see her primary. Then there are tolls, parking, gas, a day without pay for my Stepdad....... Then she leaves the office with a bunch of prescriptions that she has no idea work, are not covered by insurance, and are awfully expensive. Then she cries over which ones they can afford and what bill they will then not be able to pay. My Stepfather works constantly and signs up for any extra hours a week he can. The weight on his shoulders is so great. He does not think we know but he cries in his truck a lot thinking he is not providing what his wife and family need; He is so wrong.
MY MOM NEEDS YOUR HELP, PLEASE!!
She has always been here for all of us please let us be here for here. She needs help to pay for all these medical bills. Just last week she shelled out $1400+ and now has no idea how she is going to pay her rent in two weeks. We all want her to get the feed tube, but she is unsure she can afford the out-of-pocket cost. We want her to get a continuous glucose monitor because dying in her sleep while no one know what is going on is a real concern. We have found that the insurance will pay for beginning set up, but the monthly supplies would be on her. We are lost and she is scared. Please if you have any advice for us or ways to help her please reach out to her or I. As a family we need help. Everyone always asks her what they can do for her....
MY ANSWER WOULD BE SHARE THIS PLEASE. SHE NEEDS US!!!!
