We are hoping to help a hero.  Darin Chance is a Police Officer, assigned to DARE and SRO duties, with the Grain Valley PD.  Darin has been with the Grain Valley PD for 15 years.  Darin has been in both the Air Force and Army for over 8 years.  He has done two tours for the military, one in Iraq.  When he returned from Iraq, he was diagnosed with kidney failure.  He was on the waiting list for 2 1/2 years until he received a transplant a little over a month ago.  He is recovering well but we want to help him with some expenses for their home.

Several friends helped by doing some light work around the house, but the house is in need of paint, a new front railing, staining of the deck and underground downspouts.

I have received estimates/bids for the work that totals a little over $5500.00.  All of the donations will go to these expenses.   I will provide copies of the bids upon request.  The fund raising will stop when the goal is reached.

If you know Darin, you probably realize that he really doesn't want charity.  He is a proud man.  We just want him to recover without worry about these expenses.

There is not a child in the Grain Valley School District that has not benefited from the efforts of Darin Chance.  He goes above and beyond what is expected of him to serve.  He loves the work that he does.

Darin has served his country and his community.  He is truly a hero.
