Hi everyone. I’m writing this and making this request to help my friend Taylor Dickinson.  Most of you do not know her but I’m hoping as this progresses and reaches more people, it will also reach people that do know her. Taylor and I have been friends for the past few years (as have Sophie and her daughter) and she’s an extraordinary person in every way. She is an ICU nurse, caring for incredibly ill people for many years. She has dedicated everything she has to caring for so many over the past year that have contracted COVID. And what does she get in return, unfortunately metastatic breast cancer. Taylor is a 32 year old, single mom with a young teenage daughter, and she has been handed this incredibly difficult task of fighting this awful disease. But everything I know about her and who she is deep down, is that she’s a true fighter in every manner of the word.  She has already started chemotherapy and will have many rounds to come, with surgeries and radiation to follow.  

During this time that has been an extraordinarily difficult year for so many, it can be difficult for many of us to put a face or a name to someone who has been directly impacted. While this is different, and thankfully Taylor has not contracted COVID, despite treating patient after patient with it, and going home every night, removing her clothes in the garage and scouring herself, doing everything she can to protect her daughter, she still had this handed to her. As I can tell you directly life is not fair, but people persevere with the utmost strength as I know Taylor is doing. 

Due to the treatments and the nature of her job, she will have significant time away from work to protect herself from infection. She will certainly exhaust all her paid leave time, have medical bills, and significant other expenses without a salary coming in. For this reason I am asking everyone and anyone that can, to please contribute in someway to help Taylor and her daughter financially through this challenge.  Frontline medical workers have been there for our population and I hope we can be there for Taylor in this incredible time of need. I thank you directly and I know Taylor does as well.
