Samson’s unexpected medical spending spree!
Donation protected
Update:
Well Samson has been diagnosed with a large tumor on his Pituitary gland that is resulting in pressure on his brain. Thus causing his confusion and pain. The neurologist and I agreed that a program of steroids each day would relieve some of that pressure and ease his pain. It’s only temporary as the tumor will still continue to grow but this will give him his best quality of life his remaining days. So yes I’m losing the best part of my life, my son. But we are gonna go out swinging and in a few days when he improves a little, he is going to enjoy his life doing his favorite things!
Thank you to everyone for the insane amount of donations! A friend of mine, Allison Hawk and I have decided to create a nonprofit with the unused donations to help smaller rescues around the area and families in need of help with vet bills or food. Also help in the event of a natural disaster like last April. We’ll be setting that up and registering it with the state in the next few weeks. The Samson Foundation. That way the love in his wonderful heart can continue on.
The Samson Foundation.
I’ll leave this GoFundMe up until Sunday night so if you haven’t donated and want to get our foundation started!
There’s not enough love our times in this world to give thanks to all of you but I’ll try. THANK YOU!
Samson. Anyone that knows me knows that he is my world. 10 years old and has been with me 9. Most people my age have kids headed to college but my kid is a deadbeat that lays around the house all day. That’s OK because I love him with all my heart and I know he loves me unconditionally.
Within the past week and a half, Samson’s health has taken a bad turn. What we thought may have been allergies or some sort of infection has turned into most likely a neurological issue. Side effects from a stroke or possibly a tumor. Dr. Turner has referred us to Upstate Vet Specialists for a CAT Scan/possible MRI. Sam is very wobbly and sometimes just seems addled and confused. Needs to be picked up and put in the Jeep and when taken out. He’s very vocal almost like gasping for breath and whimpers softly. At night he has small seizures like chills.
It’s killing me to see my wide open buddy this way. Walking into the kitchen and just staring at the wall. I’ve cried holding him the past few nights. He’s my kid. It’s just he and I against the world. I just want him healthy. My pride is hurting because I’ve never had to ask for help. I’ve always been on the other side helping. This is a big time expense that I’ll shoulder one way or the other. The alternative is putting my best friend down before we even see if he can have a good quality of life. I’m holding my hat in my hand in front of me with what sliver of pride I have left. If you can help, please do. Whatever I raise beyond what I need for his treatment will go directly to the Oconee Humane Society and the Pickens County Humane Society in Sam’s honor. I’ll be very transparent and post invoices on his cost for care so that you’ll see your money is going directly to him.
Thank you for all the prayers and for the love.
He’s all I’ve got.
