Funeral for Claudio Rodriguez

On Thursday Feb 11 2021, at 51 years young, Heaven received another angel, as our beloved Claudio Rodriguez took his last breath here on earth.
If you had the pleasure of meeting him, you know he was one of a kind. Claudio was a spirit that you had no choice but to love. He could walk up to a complete stranger and swear that you had met before, to the point where you couldn’t help but smile and agree.
He made his presence known at every gathering and function; spreading high fives and laughing, hugs and kisses, spontaneous dancing or his traveling boom box. He always made his rounds and greeted everyone with pure joy and excitement - such a gentleman.
He lived an extraordinary life at any standard.
He was his high school prom king.
Played in the special Olympics.
Had trophies and medals ranging from basketball and bowling to dance competitions and being voted “Best Dressed”. He had the most extensive movie collection - Steven Spielberg would applaud.
But above all - he was a truly wonderful Son. Brother. Uncle. Cousin. Nephew. And Friend - because no matter what - he had nothing but genuine love and appreciation for those in his life.
Unfortunately his health took a turn for the worse and was simultaneously battling both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease during the last 3 years of his life. On Thursday 2/21, after seeing her and hearing his mother Isabel Rodriguez’s voice one last time, he looked at her, and with his last breath closed his eyes and was his time to Rest In Peace.
With the pandemic it has been difficult to line up the services needed for a proper burial and ceremony - but his mother and nieces/nephews are working on them and will have funeral details to share as soon as possible.
We are setting up this GoFundMe to help with funeral services and costs.

Amigos y familia,
El jueves 11 de febrero de 2021, nuestro querido Claudio Rodríguez tomó su último aliento.
Si tuvo el placer de conocerlo, sabrá que era único en su clase. Claudio era un espíritu al que no tenías más remedio que amar. Podía acercarse a un completo extraño y jurar que te conocías antes, hasta el punto en que no pudiste evitar sonreír y estar de acuerdo.
Dio a conocer su presencia en cada reunión y función; repartiendo choques de manos y risas, abrazos y besos, bailes espontáneos o su boom box ambulante. Siempre hacía sus rondas y saludaba a todos con pura alegría y emoción, todo un caballero.
Vivió una vida extraordinaria en cualquier nivel.
Él era el rey del baile de su escuela secundaria.
Jugó en las Olimpiadas especiales.
Tuvo trofeos y medallas que iban desde baloncesto y bolos hasta competencias de baile y fue votado como "Mejor vestido". Tenía la colección de películas más extensa: Steven Spielberg aplaudiría.
Pero sobre todo, era un Hijo verdaderamente maravilloso. Hermano. Tío. Prima. Sobrino. Y Friend, porque pase lo que pase, no tenía nada más que amor y aprecio genuinos por aquellos en su vida.
Desafortunadamente, su salud empeoró y al mismo tiempo luchó contra la enfermedad de Alzheimer y la enfermedad de Parkinson durante los últimos 3 años de su vida. El jueves 21/2, luego de verla y escuchar la voz de su madre Isabel Rodríguez por última vez, la miró y con su último aliento cerró los ojos y llegó el momento de Descansar en Paz.
Con la pandemia, ha sido difícil alinear los servicios necesarios para un entierro y una ceremonia adecuados, pero su madre y sus sobrinas / sobrinos están trabajando en ellos y tendrán detalles del funeral para compartir lo antes posible.
