Hi my name is Heather Orozco and I am asking for help for my sister Salina and the battle she has just begun to fight. Her road to recovery is going to be long and hard. I am asking for help to get her through this tough time.
On Wednesday, June 8th Salina was bitten by a spider and things started to get crazy. Doctors say she had MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) which then turned into Necrotizing Fasciitis, a flesh eating bacterial infection that destroys tissue under the skin. It has attacked Salina from her abdomen to her hips and back.
On Sunday, June 13th she was flown to Albuquerque and has had 4 surgeries so far to remove dead tissue and skin. She is currently under a medical induced coma and has been since Sunday to manage the pain and to allow her to heal for at least another 7 days. She will need many more surgeries, skin graphs, and rehabilitation before this is over. Dustin, her fiancé, has been by her side but with bills piling up, he has had to return to work.
The future is still unclear for Salina, but doctors are hopeful and are preparing us for what will be next. Salina has a long road of recovery ahead of her and won't be able to return to work for months. We know she is a fighter and can get through this, but she will need our help.
Salina has always gone out of her way to help others. She is a home health care provider for our Aunt and Uncle and others in Grants NM, she is a loving aunt, sister, daughter, fiancé, cousin, and friend.
As Salina's sister, with support from Family and Friends, I have started this campaign to help Salina with her vital medical expenses, and to give Salina the help to focus on healing. We as Salina's family want to give her every opportunity to recover fully, and ensure a future with her fiancé Dustin. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
