Jackson's Fight Against Cancer

As some of you may or may not know, Rey and I are half-brothers. We share the same Father, but we have different Mothers. We both shared and achieved the dream of owning a bar together. Never did we dream of sharing the same heartache of knowing that both of our mothers would have cancer at the same time.

On September 15th, I received a call from my mother that she was just diagnosed with Breast Cancer. There were still so many questions that I had in mind, but we were still waiting to hear from the doctor to find out what her treatment options would be.

As I was still trying to process the information about my mother, I received a call from my brother a week later. He had even more devastating news which was that his mother was just diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer.

As both of our mothers are still learning their treatment plans going forward, they will have to undergo surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and many other procedures. Unfortunately, not all of these procedures will be covered by insurance.

Rey’s Mother will have her first round of chemotherapy today, and my mother will be undergoing surgery to have the tumor removed tomorrow.
