Hiiiii, I'm Tessa, a 7-year-old Yorki living in Hermosa Beach, California. Little did my mom know, I have a genetic disease called Protein-losing Enteropathy. I was 6 years old when all of a sudden my belly got HUGE! I got super sick because the disease causes my intestinal wall leak nutrients into my tummy, which made my tummy crazy big! My mommy did everything she could for me and after months of tests and lots of money, my doctors found the right medication combination for me and I felt alllll-better again. I have to take 7 medications throughout the day, but it handles my disease and my mommy always puts them in yummy treats, so win-win on my end.
I have been the happiest pup in the world.... but all of a sudden, I started feeling really bad 2 weeks ago. I don’t feel my happy perky- self at all and I can’t stomach any food; even human steak and chicken sounds horrible. Mom rushed me to the emergency room on Thursday, June 16th because I was barely responding and we found out that the meds that are keeping me alive are also destroying my kidneys.
Mom already maxed out her credit line on Care Credit just to get me here and my doctor says I can make a full recovery but I just need a little more time in the hospital and some home care afterwards. If you can help my mommy with some of the medical bills she incurred this week and with the upcoming tests we need to get me home and back in my bed, I promise not to bark when the door bell rings. I promise not to beg for food when you are eating at the human table. I promise I wont make an accident inside the house ...again. And I promise I will chase squirrels faster then I ever have ..….Oh, and I promise I will cuddle with mommy, even when its really late and I just want to sleep at the end of the bed.
I still have a good 6-7 years left in me and I promise I will smile every day if I get the chance.
Thank you for your help
