Hello! My brother Jalun has passed away due to addiction. He had finally gotten a spot at Health Solutions for rehabilitation for next week, after months of looking. Jalun was absolutely BRILLIANT with a HUGE heart. He wanted to see a world full of more compassion and love for all who inhabit this Earth. Jalun had a impressive knowledge and education of history, politics, propaganda, biology, botany, chemistry, writing, anthropology, psychology, and technology. The past several years he had been struggling with substance abuse and mental health. Jalun had been wanting to reconnect with his essence and get back to his childlike wonder and awe of life. His non judgmental accepting attitude, and observational philosophic view of reality, were truly admirable. Jalun was a safe place for people to be themselves, without masks or fear of judgement. I believe his collective ripple of who he was is still echoing out into the world.
I am reaching out for help on behalf of my family. The past several years witnessing this part of Jalun’s life has been hard on my family financially, but especially emotionally. We had been trying to support Jalun financially, while also trying to get the help he needed. It is a painfully horrifying experience to watch someone you love suffer so deeply. Not knowing what to do, or how to help Jalun properly despite giving what we could is so devastating.
I hope this can help others understand how addiction and mental health disorders are impacting our society. A portion of the donations will be going to Crestone Recovery Health Solutions in Pueblo Colorado, where Jalun was going to get treatment next week. We feel Jalun would have wanted to support others seeking help with addiction who couldn’t afford it. Perhaps together we can think about steps we can take in our own lives towards solutions. How can we create a world with more love, safety, compassion, knowledge, and understanding? Where can we support each other more through this journey of life?
With loving gratitude,
The Watson Family
