My mom, Sarah Anderson, was diagnosed with COVID after being exposed while working with an asymptotic employee about a month ago.
She was already targeted in the high risk group with asthma, diabetes, and congestive heart failure.
Now a month later she is dealing with pneumonia & fluid around her heart making it harder to breathe.
She is currently in a hospital in Atlanta where she is being discharged for the 3rd time.
We feel as though they might say being an uninsured patient doesn’t contribute to their level of care but her current doctor overseeing her discharge from the hospital was quoted saying “if you had a pcp doctor you wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital three times”.
My mom has a pcp appointment set up on Monday but having lost her job and being uninsured she can’t afford the $300 doctors visit bill.
We know she will need more financial help to recover from the expenses of being hospitalized and without work but I’m most concerned with ensuring if the hospital won’t continue to monitor she needs a doctor who will fight for her.
She’s the mother of 6 children, the youngest turns 7 years old in just 2 weeks. She hasn’t seen any of us since before Christmas. I’m her oldest child and I live 13 hours away, wishing I could be there to physically fight for her and advocate to her doctors.
