Almost every state in the Union requires American citizens to take a firearms safety and training course before they can apply for a conceal carry permit. These state statues, though well-intentioned, do not provide the vehicle to pay for sign language interpreters when they are requested. Deaf Americans are being prevented from exercising their Constitutional right to carry a handgun for self-protection. Deaf Americans, as with other disability groups, are a vulnerable community of people in America; easy targets. But they are just like you and me, they have jobs and families and homes that they wish to protect and keep safe.
I am a 2A advocate and a nationally certified sign language interpreter. I have successfully coordinated an all Deaf class in June 2020. All twenty Deaf Americans received their certificate that allows them to apply for their conceal carry handgun permit here in North Carolina. And I want to do it again. I can coordinate the courses and the provision of sign language interpreters. It costs about $1500 to provide interpreters for one conceal carry course.
Will you help me? A $10 donation goes a long way and all proceeds will be spent on providing sign language interpreters for Deaf Americans to take conceal carry courses.
Thank you!!!
