Never in our wildest dreams did we ever think I would be setting up a GoFundme page for my father in law. There's something in you that doesn't let you picture the people you love sick. Steve's sickness was mistaken for diabetes and gave us all a reason to believe that was why he was feeling exhausted, tingling, "blood boiling and shaking", dizzy, cloudy vision and waking up completely drenched. Steve came over for his bi-weekly hair cut from Kurt and told him that he just does not feel right. Kurt insisted he go to the doctor right when he left and he did. Thank God for helping that day. The on call doctor decided to draw and check a more extensive blood panel. The next morning Steve received the news that he needed to be taken to the hospital right away, he has leukemia. When he checked into Akron city hospital we were praying that the results would be something treatable. He has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, it is the most aggressive form of leukemia and appears quickly. If not treated quickly can be fatal within weeks/months. He was transferred immediately to the Cleveland clinic. He is scheduled to be at the Cleveland clinic fighting for his life for at least 6 weeks. An aggressive chemo is the plan for two weeks and we need as many prayers as we can get that he goes into remission. Steve has 28 days to return to work or he loses his job and his insurance. We know he will be unable to return to work right away. His treatment will last at least 6 weeks and that is if everything goes as planned. Steve is a man who has worked since the age of 16 years old. On top of his full time job he picked up as much side work as he could. He really can do anything! He just recently retired, then returned to work full time to make it work financially. I have never met a man more worthy of asking for help, yet I know he would be devastated this is what it has come to. I want to be able to help him anyway that we can. So that he can focus on his daily battle. We are devastated and he needs help. Please, please pray as much as you can that the treatment puts his leukemia into remission and stays that way. I still can't believe I am writing this. Please consider helping if you can. Every dollar that you give will go towards his treatment, travel expenses and paying bills while he is unable to work. I will keep everyone posted on his progress as he is going to Fight For His Life!!
Thank you so much for your prayers and donations!
