Meet the Thom Clark family: Thom (63), Mary and sons, Clay and Carson.
Thom's recent medical history has been eventful and life-changing. In the last five years he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, late stages colon cancer and Afib/ heart disease. During the time of chemo treatments, stents, and a pacemaker, Thom noticed an unexplained loss of strength in his arms and upper body. In February 2016, Thom and Mary both had medical-forced retirements due to Thom's condition. After many, many tests and repeated stays in the hospital, it was confirmed in May 2016 that Thom has late stages ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurological disease that causes dysfunction of the nerves that control muscle movement. Since then Thom's family has been watching the disease progress on a daily basis and they have continued to adjust their home and lives to accommodate his needs.
ALS is a rare and extremely expensive disease. Thom is living at home in Tulsa, OK with Mary and family providing 24/7 care along with a hospice care team. As you can imagine, after 5 years of chronic illness the incredible financial bills keep accumulating. We are hoping to raise funds to hire nursing help for Thom and to reduce the stress the family is experiencing during these precious few last months.
"With gratitude beyond words, thank you so much for your prayers, support, encouragement and financial assistance as we walk this journey. Words cannot express how grateful we are. May you be greatly blessed!" Thom, Mary, Clay & Carson
