Jay R. Hooper, also Je' Exodus Hooper—the Artepostle, Doctor of Ministry for Sacred Arts and Community Ritual Performance from The New Seminary, is a motivated, passionate highly qualified artist, theologian and sacred arts activist. Cultivating an ethic of love through the arts, Je Exodus authentically engages individual personhood and community accessibility by emphasizing systemic socio-political impact, and providing opportunities for people with resources to make effective change. In his current research, Je Exodus explores the numinous appeal of public and private ritual spaces in ways that build upon commonality, community, and solidarity.

This summer, Je Exodus has the incredible opportunity to expand on his current research surrounding performance ritual as a site of peace-building and public resistance at Transart Institute in Berlin, Germany for 3 weeks. The $7,000 donated will aide Je in travel,  covering room and board, research and coursework development with Transart Institute. Steeped in an artistically diverse culture, Berlin is the perfect environment to extend his passion for arts, ritual performance, and social ethics as a tools that will impact his community-wide practice, and methods of inclusivity. This experience also contributes to his exploration of creating with global communities.

Influenced by deep artistic theological insight, Je Exodus evokes the essence of the artist in each of us, recognizing our ability as prophets (where all voices matter) as they "speak truth to power." Emphasizing the need to build stronger and better communities that respond to the truth needed for each individuals’ worth and dignity. Once engaged in ritual, the community is able to embody these truths and transposes their prophetic work for reconciliation, rehabilitation, and revitalization.

In order to participate in this program, all funds are due Friday, July 1, 2016. With your support and encouragement, Je Exodus will be immersed in a rare practicum and research in the arts as ritual.
