Jason Diaz funeral costs, and financial assistance

On February 5th, my former boyfriend, Jason Diaz, took his own life after months of struggling with mental illness. Of course, this did not happen out of the blue. But, up until a few months ago, he hid any signs of struggle from those who were close to him. These past few months have been nothing short of extremely difficult for his family, and for those who cared about Jason. Jason was such a good person. He was kind, funny, intelligent, and made a lasting impression on those he encountered and blessed with his friendship and wit. After graduating from Westhill High School in 2017, he was supposed to graduate from St. John’s University this year. He lit up any room that he entered. He loved our three Pomeranians, Paco, Ping, and Pepe, so much, and was so good to them. Jason had such a bright future ahead of him, and it pains us all that he is no longer here with us. We will all miss him deeply. I am setting up this Gofundme on behalf of his family, so that they do not have to worry about funeral costs. This is also a fund that is being set up most importantly for his mother (and also his father), who are immigrants from Colombia, so that she can take off work, and grieve the loss of her son. Because she is self-employed and works 6 days a week, taking off work is extremely difficult during this time, especially since she is receiving no outside financial support. She is one of the most hardworking people I have ever met in my life, and would do anything for Jason and his sister Sabrina. Any remaining money will most likely be donated to a fund in Jason’s name. Anything and everything is appreciated. Because I am surprising Jason's parents, and because I want to allow Jason's sister Sabrina the time to grieve the loss of her brother and not worry about logistics, all of the money will be deposited into my account (Sabrina gave me her permission), and then I will give them a cashier's check.
