My name is Mitch Lindberg. I'm a 54 year old blue collar worker from Stanchfield, MN. After a summer of trying to work, train my dogs, or tie my boots experiencing severe fatigue, pulled chest and stomach muscles. I finally went to the doctor and left with a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma in September of 2015. Multiple Myeloma is a bone marrow cancer that if left unchecked will turn my bones (skull included!) into soda crackers.
After 6 months of chemotherapy treatment at my local hospital I am now at the Mayo Clinic undergoing stem cell transplants. If all goes to plan, in 2-3 weeks time I should be able to leave the Mayo to return to life. I will continue to need about 2-4 weeks of recovery time. My plan is to return to life as I know it; family, back to work, spending time with our 3 dogs and to keep training them.
The reason I am looking for help is that I am looking at 6 months unpaid from work, and all the incidentals that insurance doesn't pay for. There is close to $10,000 in bills from my local hospital and I can't imagine the uncovered expenses from the Mayo Clinic.
Come hell or high water I've aways paid my bills, but I've never had debt this high with no savings to back me up. I would be so greatful to have some of this weight pulled from my shoulders.
Mitch during stem cell collection. "Phase 2" of 4
I'm Emili, Mitch's paramour of 10 years and plan on counting. As petty as is sounds, I will miss that pony tail. You see, it's a part of him. He had survived a horrific car fire in 2010. His pony tail did not get burned like his arm. shoulder and back did. He's a survivor.
