James Bickford, Pronoblem to many co-conspirators, died in a tragic motorcycle crash on Sunday, September 11th in Connecticut. James leaves his long time partner, Rachel, four beloved children and an entire communtiy of activists and organizers grieving for the loss of this heroic, generous, crazy-making brilliant man.
James and Rachel and their family had purchased their first home last year and then James was laid off from his job. He was setting a course for a new profession as a nurse. He continued to fight to make Holyoke a better place for all those who struggle every day and to shine his pointed and humor laden criticism on those whose corruption he despised. He was an artist in everything he did bringing chaos and charm together.
Many people have reached out and asked what they can do to help. Right now, ensuring that there is enough money to pay funeral costs and the mortgage and addressing other financial issues without additional worry seems to be the best thing.
