As many of you know, I have spent the past decade diligently working to end feline overpopulation. Only recently have I decided to take what has always been my advice to friends and family to "take care of yourself first" and actually apply it to myself.
While rewarding as it can be, animal rescue has been a detriment to my physical, mental and financial well-being. I wouldn't change what I've done, it's been worth it. But now, I feel at the age of 50, it's time to do something for Carol.
Recently I began a journey to better health and self improvement. It is a life-changing new "way of being" and it has already had impact on many things including my level of happiness, ease of functioning in this crazy world, greater energy, a smaller backside and reduction of physical pain and discomfort.
An opportunity has come my way and I have jumped on it. I'm going to spend Thanksgiving in The Galapagos Islands. It's a 7 day trip that I hope will help me continue the good work I've been doing on myself physically, mentally and spiritually. I think it is doing to do wonders for me and as all of you know, when I'm in high spirits, I'm a lot easier to get along with. ; )
When I originally said yes to this trip, I had the price on the website in my head and while it was a stretch for this girl who hasn't had a paying job since starting Carol's Ferals in 2006, I said to myself, I'll figure it out. Then I got into the planning and realized that I'd neglected to consider the extras that are involved. There will be two hotel nights during travel that I had not considered. I totally spaced out and forgot that the airfare wasn't included in the package price. DUH! And there are some fees and other additional costs here and there that are making this trip a little daunting financially.
I have never felt comfortable asking for anything for myself personally. I will sell my soul for the rescue and beg money for every birthday for the last ten years to benefit Carol's Ferals, but I've not asked for anything for this girl HERE.
TILL NOW! I need some help with this extra financial bit. The room at the lodge will be about $3,500. I can handle that part pretty much without having to sell plasma. But it's the extra $2,000 I need YOU for.
So, would you consider never giving me a present for the rest of my life and instead support my gofundme? I promise I won't ever ask you for anything for MYSELF ever again. Disclaimer* I can't say I won't hound you for money for CF however.
I will be creating a special blog that will be shared with anyone who sponsors this trip with a donation of any size. I want to share my adventure with you.
This will be a once in a lifetime trip for me. I am excited to see the tortoises, seals, blue footed boobies and all the other amazing creatures that live in this pristine part of the world.
I'm blessed to have the ability to take such a trip. With your help, I will be able to do it without being too financially strapped.
Here are the details of the actual trip I will be taking.
It's a yoga retreat. I've never done yoga, but I think I might try it out in the beauty and splendor of the Galapagos Islands.
Thank you for reading all this.
Carol
PS There are still spaces available for this trip. If you want to share a room with me, I'd love a travel companion that I know. Details within the link above.
