Robert's Anchor for Life
Donation protected
My name is Kristen Hazard. I've been friends with Julie Whitlow for 25 years and I'm raising money to help her pay for Charlie, a service dog for her autistic son Robert.

Robert is 13 and, not surprisingly, much faster than his mother, Julie ha ha. Robert also exhibits elopement behavior, which means he basically takes off and runs full speed.
Robert also loves to be outdoors. Julie has been trying to figure out how to continue to allow Robert to experience the beach, mountains, and the great outdoors while also keeping him safe. She found out that service dogs can be used for this and connected with a local service dog training center, Doggie Do Good in Arroyo Grande.
Enter Charlie.

Charlie will be tethered to Robert on their walkabouts and trained to anchor him and respond to Julie's voice commands. In addition, Julie can put a rope on the ground which creates a boundary that Charlie will not cross, no matter what. For example, a boundary around a campsite. Another outdoor experience that Julie hasn't been able to share with Robert for fear of elopement.
Charlie costs $19,000 total.
$2,000 for the dog.
$17,000 for the extensive service dog training including the specific skills needed for Robert.
Julie has already come up with $9,000 and we are hoping to raise the remaing $10,000 (plus $1,000 for gofundme fees) for the final payment for Charlie.
We need the money as soon as possible because the sooner we get the money the sooner Charlie comes home to Robert. These pictures are from their first weekend training visit June 3, 4 and 5, 2016.

We are so happy that Charlie can keep Robert safe while allowing him to continue to have a great quality of life. It's a relief as Julie was worried Robert's world was going to become smaller and smaller. Now she sees that he can keep experiencing what he loves while keeping him safe and bonding with a true companion.
We would be so very grateful if you could contribute any amount toward this goal and to Robert's continued quality of life
.
Thank you for your consideration.
