Help St Columba’s Technical School, Kitui, Kenya
Donation protected
A big hello from Christine, Rhona, Jeananne, Mairead, Sarah, Niamh & Aisling. We are all very proud nieces of our Aunt Sr. Clare Ursula who is a board of management member in St Columba’s Technical Training College, Kitui, Kenya. We are each going to try walk/run 100km in February to hopefully raise some much needed funds for St Columba's Technical Training College.
St Columbas Technical Training College is a technical training college situated in Mutune, Kitui county. The college provides training to youths to enable them build a meaningful future for themselves.
St Columba’s caters for the vulnerable, physically challenged, and those who are locked out of upward mobility because of lack of voice, money, or supportive family unity. On January 4th, 2021, we opened our doors to receive the students back after 10 months closure. 125 students are enrolled in the technical classes.
As with many community funded organisation's the global COVID-19 pandemic has really limited fundraising opportunities which we would organise yearly to support St Columba's Technical College. This year more than ever the school is really in need of our fundraising support so we have all got together (virtually) to each walk/run 100km in February.
Like the world over, the pandemic has left the staff of St Columba’s hard-hit because of the following:
• No salary from July to December 2020
• Confiscation of basic property like beds in lieu of rent
• Partners unemployed
• Welfare fund exhausted
All the money fundraised will support the teachers and families negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in St Columba’s Technical Training College, Kitui, Kenya as they try to rebuild and open their doors.
All support is very welcome and thank you for taking the time to donate!
