My nephew, James Streacker Jr. was born with a rare and very complicated heart condition. He was diagnosed before birth and was delivered at Shands hospital. He is 3 months old now and has spent most of that time in the hospital. He has been diagnosed with Transposition of the great vessels and Ventricular inversion. This condition causes deoxygenated blood to circulate through his body, rather than oxygenated blood. He has had many episodes which caused him to be unresponsive due to lack of oxygen and rushed to the hospital. One episode can be fatal. He has been transported by life flight and by Learjet to Shands several times due to his condition. His condition will require surgery. Possibly multiple surgeries. For now he is being treated with medication and being monitored at Shands until surgeons feel he is ready for surgery.
My brother Jimmy and his wife Alysia are struggling financially. My brother has missed a lot of work and Alysia is unable to work due to the severity of his condition. They need to be by his side as much as possible.
