Help Ben Apply for Residency

So this has been a long time coming and I am finally ready to face my anxieties about this situation and try to make a better life for myself and my family. As many of you know I am from England and have been living in the US for about 13 years. I made some poor choices in my twenties and let my residency expire many years ago which has been looming over my head for some time now. I need to fix this if I want any chance at living a more normal and less stressful life.

Because I did come here legally I have my own SSN and a valid driver's license. I have never lied on a job application and I pay my taxes, though I have only ever been able to get low paying jobs due to my immigration status. I am ready to begin the process of renewing my residency so I can work towards the goals that I have: buying a house, taking my kid traveling, marrying my amazing girlfriend, getting my GED and going to college so I can get a job in a field that I love, and generally try to better myself and cut out my own little slice of life. 

I am asking for some financial help to make these dreams become a reality. I will need a lawyer to help me navigate the complex process of reapplying for residency. Based on the research I have done I am estimating the entire process will cost me a minimum of $5,000. I will update the amount as needed. Any money that is spent will be documented and receipts will be posted. If it somehow ends up costing less than what I receive I will donate the remaining funds to an organization that helps others with legal fees when applying for citizenship. Any amount would be extremely appreciated and help me finally move forward with this process!

*UPDATE*

I got a call back from a lawyer yesterday, she said I need to apply for a form called a G639 that is basically a detailed report of my residency status. She said it’s the first step to really getting the process rolling. Apparently the form can take a few moths to arrive. In the meantime she told me to keep gathering funds as the whole process is probably going to cost a lot more than I initially expected.
