On Wednesday, January 27th, we lost our good friend, Luis Mariano Alanis, to Covid-19. Although he was a friend to so many, he was also a great brother and uncle.
Because of the suddenness of his passing, I am hoping to collect some funds to assist his sisters, Laura and Lilly, in all of the unforeseen expenses. As many of you know, Luis is from El Paso, Texas (as long as you said 3 sentences to him he probably mentioned that fact!). He will get to go back home to be with the rest of his family, something he always talked about and longed for. Between his 2 sisters, his brother-in-law, and his nephews, he loved his family. ESPECIALLY his nephews! Although he lost both of his parents, he still talked about them all the time. Family was important to Luis. And although so many of us are blessed to be able to call Luis an honorary family member, we want to make sure he is where he was always meant to be, with his family in Texas.
So we are asking if you have a few spare dollars to donate to Lilly and Laura. All of the money raised will go directly to them and will be used for any funeral costs, traveling expenses for the family, or other general costs involving anything to do with his belongings.
Also, please feel free to share any sweet memories or funny stories on here or Facebook. We all know Luis was a genuinely good guy who would have given the shirt off his back, but he was also a goofy guy who was always up to being the joke of the party to give everyone a laugh.
I, for one, will miss all the Talladega trips, all the birthdays when he would have a designated driver and could be talked into taking shots (Jose
Cuervo, you are a friend of mine), and the years of trivia nights where he would try to beat me at guessing the country singer.
So long, my friend, until we meet again.
I’ll remember you and all the times we used to drink a beer.
