Donation protected
Joshua Ryan Joseph Young—loving husband, devoted father, cherished son and brother, and loyal friend—passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at his home in Denham Springs, LA. He was 36 years old.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his children's, McKenzie and Gavin, education funds.
Josh was born in Opelousas, LA on December 28, 1979. He was a 1997 graduate of Eunice High School where he nurtured his passion for baseball as 2nd baseman for the EHS Bobcats. Josh eventually moved away from Eunice, but he never forgot his love for baseball or his hometown. Every year, he looked forward to returning to Eunice to play in the alumni baseball tournament. He never lost his competitive spirit, and he played each game as though he were 17-year-old Josh "Stewbee" Young all over again. He passed on his athletic passion to his two children, McKenzie and Gavin, and devoted his time to coaching several of their athletic teams. When he wasn't playing or coaching games, Josh was taking his family to watch LSU football and baseball games. Baseball, however, was not Josh's greatest passion. The one thing Josh loved more than anything in the world was his family. Josh was a family man, and he worked hard to ensure that his wife and children had the best life they could possibly have. For the past seven years, he has served as Inspector at ExxonMobil. When he wore his steel-toe boots, Josh was the boss everyone wanted to work for. When the workday was done, he came home and put on his Nikes and became the husband and father everyone wishes for. In his free time, Josh enjoyed camping with his family and friends. He also enjoyed snow skiing in New Mexico and Colorado, where he could revive his competitive spirit by racing his dad and his siblings down a black diamond slope. Josh had a zest for life, and he never once took that for granted. Josh will be remembered for his generosity and his humor, as well as being the life of Christmas Eve at his grandparents' house. When it was time to open presents, Josh would help the children hand out the gifts; it was his favorite part of the evening. He has always been a gift-giver. Josh's greatest gift that he ever gave, however, was his awe-inspiring love for his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all. May his love and passion for life live on in the hearts of all those who loved him. Survivors include his wife, Monica Dupuy Young; his daughter, Mckenzie Jade Young; his son, Gavin Kade Young; father, Gerald Young and wife, Gwen Young; mother, Juene Lalonde and husband Raphael Lalonde; brother, Luke Young and wife, Patricia Young; sister, Jessica Touchet and wife, Shari Touchet; paternal grandparents, Floyd and Frances Young; and maternal grandmother Jeanora Miller; fathers-in-law and mother-in-law, Susan and Mike Landry, and Louis Dupuy; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Michelle and Ronnie Romero, and Billie Jo Dupy; nieces and nephews, Nick Romero, and Mariah and RJ Dupuy; in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Abrar Miller, Jr., and his cousin, Kristen Miller. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who gave their comfort and support and reached out with kind words, warm gestures, and constant prayers. You have our eternal gratitude. Visitation will be at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs on Wednesday, June 15 from 4 p.m. until service at 7 p.m.
