Hi all,
My daughter has recently been diagnosed with 'carotid artery dissection' A carotid dissection is a tear in one of your carotid arteries. These are a set of 2 arteries at the sides of your neck. They supply blood to your brain. A dissection is a tear of the inner layer of the wall of an artery. The tear lets blood get in between the layers of the wall and separate them.
Even the smallest amounts of work or lifting are dangerous and recovery will take anywhere from 3 months to 6 months. My daughter is a single mum with two children and no readily available help in Tasmania.
I have traveled from Melbourne to Tasmania to assist as she has just got out of hospital but I am already seeing that she needs some more permanent type of arrangement to run the house when I return to Melbourne. I will have to travel at least every three weeks to Tasmania and spend a week trying to give her a break.
I really don't know how she will manage and that is why I am asking for financial help. I am looking at the possibility of getting some sort of ongoing assistance in the household as the government does not cover her type of situation.
