Elizabeth's Catalina Semester

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, I am a senior undergraduate majoring in marine biology at CSUN.  I have been on the Dean’s list 3 times and my current GPA is 3.48. I am also a part of the Honor Society Gamma Sigma Alpha.
I have been accepted into a wonderful program called the CSU Marine Biology Semester. "This program provides an intensive undergraduate exposure to marine biology, and is designed for students with a serious commitment to environmental and marine science. All courses provide a strong element of hands-on field experience, which provides the comprehensive training that can help in career choices and graduate
decisions."( CSU Marine Biology Semester Website )(For more details see the bottom of the post. I was trying to make it not too long. )

I am now asking for your generous donations because I had money for this program that has now fell through.
I am having trouble coming up with the rest of the room and board expenses. I will use all funds that are raised to pay for the rest of this once and a lifetime experience which will further my education and help me dedicate my life to improving the ocean.

The 1st payment is due July 29th, but I think cutting it off earlier might be better.

Being a part of this program would change my life. This program would help me narrow down my field of research. I love everything about the ocean and finding just one part to study is very difficult at the moment. This program helps students find the question that will drive their research in the present and future. This semester won't just help me evolve as a scientist but give me amazing work and research experience which is a must for getting into graduate school. This semester is only given once a year and this is my last year at CSUN.

I would be so thankful for your generosity and if all I get is $10 that would still warm my heart. I will share with all of you my experiences on the island, what I am learning, and doing if I get funded.
There is no way I could ever thank any of you enough. But I'll think of something.

If you would like more info on what I will be doing here you are:
Students will spend 15 weeks on Santa Catalina Island and will be based in the newly-renovated dormitory and laboratory facilities. Residency at this marine laboratory provides ready access to an invigorating educational environment that provides both state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and ready access to a diversity of marine habitats. Throughout the semester, students are introduced to a sequence of courses (Fall 2016: Marine Biology, Ecology of Marine Fishes, and Marine Phycology) that prepare them to complete a directed research study in a topic of their choice. All courses provide a strong element of hands-on field experience, which provides the comprehensive training that can help in career choices and graduate decisions.
Where I will be spending my semester.
