Hello,
My name is Sydney Gardiner and my daughter’s name is Layna. Layna was born with a rare genetic mutation that affects her kidneys, lungs, heart & developmental function. Layna is immunocompromised. Layna is Gtube and oxygen dependent.
Layna requires around the clock care from myself who is her primary caregiver and nursing staff whom we have available while I work. However, with constant hospital admissions and appointments every month, I have to miss work quite a bit which is a huge financial strain. I am behind on finances, I am struggling keeping up with groceries and gas as I am sure everyone is. I have no idea what to do anymore. I do not qualify for social assistance, I cannot go on EI, In order for me to get sick/vacation time, I need to work consistently and I haven’t been able to.
We were required to move from Ile-a-La-Crosse to Saskatoon so Layna can have access to high quality care, with this move comes financial hardship almost every month.
I recently applied to JP for support with rent and utilities a few months ago to relieve some of the stress but I was denied. I sent an appeal but from my understanding, that will probably be denied as well.
I am living in with constant stress regarding Layna’s care, finances, etc. I do not know what else to do. We live in the unknown as anything could happen to Layna at any given moment.
I am reaching out for support with daily finances to catch up and to build a savings for future hospital admissions. There is also things Layna requires that I am waiting for approval from funding which I also haven’t heard back from.
If you know of anyone or anything that I could apply for or reach out to, please let me know.
Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
