Help The Shark Bite Cancer

Diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, Mark lost a lung due to surgery on May 11th and has since been undergoing a course of chemotherapy. He has had to shut down his practice and give up his clients leaving him only his savings to rely upon to cover deductibles, co-pays, and uncovered medical expenses including living expenses. Chemo is exhausting and keeps Mark bedridden most of the time. His wife is now his full time caretaker.

Mark really needs your help. His savings has to last until at least October covering all his overhead and costs of living. He is unable to work.

Over twenty five years as a lawyer here in Upstate New York, Mark has given so much for the community and the people who live therein. Please see if you can find it in your heart to help him hold on and pay his bills. His financial situation is deteriorating. He would and has done the same for so many over years.

"My husband, Mark Blum is an attorney and as a sole practitioner. I manage his office. Mark has been very ill for the past 2 months and is therefore has no new clients. He was recently diagnosed with lung cancer this April. The cost of the medical expenses are enormous coupled with no income coming in through this healing process is more than we can bare. About my friend Mark:

Decades ago, a dear friend of mine dedicated his life, to righting the wrongs of this world, and the best way he could find to do this, was from the inside, so he worked, and studied, and sweated to become the very best lawyer he could.

He's always contributed everything he can, to his clients, his community, and the world around him. He was formerly president and chairman of his local chamber of commerce, as well as served on the board of directors, always been an avid spokesperson for civil rights, and other public interest topics, put substantial organization and effort into various grass roots projects, written countless articles (both in print and online) to give insight and information to various issues, as well as been a substantially outspoken advocate for more situations that benefit the general populus, than I could list,

Although some who opposed him, would consider him 'one of those scumbag lawyers', that couldn't be farther from the truth. I would reserve that term, for the ambulance chasers, the ones who use 'golf course verdicts', and going after people not because it's right, because they are 'legally allowed to'. I've never seen a case of this with him.  Although his opinions and methods are often non-traditional, and unpopular with some, he always fights for what's right.

Mark has always been the type of lawyer, that actually fights fairly, actually uses the laws on the books, to make sure cases are handled properly,  that he puts his heart and soul into doing everything he can, to make sure his clients get the absolutely best representation, he could provide, regardless of anyone's opinion, of if they deserve it or not.

Many of the cases he has taken, have been very unpopular, but he has taken them, because EVERYONE deserves a proper counsel, it's the whole reason we have a justice system to begin with.  He stops people from being railroaded, and being treated unfairly, regardless of their situation.

In the past, there have been situations where he had fallen on hard times, this battle with cancer will probably be the hardest fight of his life.
