Hey Everyone,
My name is Meygan Rice. I'm reaching out to all of you on behalf of the Logan family and their daughter Athena, who I've been very close to for over a decade.
Tragedy struck on the morning of June 11th, 2016, when the Logan's son, Nicholas, took his own life in the home he shared with his parents.
Nick had been struggling with a psychological illness for a couple of years, and it progressed very quickly. He and his family sought out the help he was desperately in need of. However, our mental health system made it impossible for him to receive the treatment he needed.
When the Logan's attempted to admit him to the hospital for evaluation and treatment, they were turned away and given nothing more than a hefty bill and a phone number for a wellness clinic that didn’t return any of their calls for 3 days. While they were able to get him on insurance and back date the bill, essentially getting it removed, the entire outcome of his attempt to hospitalize himself was very disheartening.
Nick spent several months seeking help using whatever means he could. But unfortunately, he felt nothing could or would ease the pain he had felt so strongly, for so long. Anyone who knew him, knew that Nick felt all emotions very deeply, which proved to be both a blessing and a curse.
In the last couple of years the Logan’s have had many financial hardships. From Paul losing his job of over 20 years at Intel, to losing their home, and now with the death of their son. Because it will be difficult to cover the cost of giving Nicholas the proper celebration of life he, and they deserve, I am doing this in hopes of giving others a chance to help ease that strain.
This money will be used toward Nicholas' cremation and a celebration of life, which donor's and family and friends are all invited to attend. They are hoping to hold it on the date of his would-be 25th birthday, July 16th. Any remaining funds will be donated to his parents to help them move forward with their lives.
We are hoping to reach this goal of $3500 before then.
This would mean so much to both myself and the Logan family who is endlessly grateful for all the love and support they have been receiving through this hard time.
No matter how big or small of a donation, even the change in your pockets, or passing this message along through Facebook; we would be grateful for in astronomical amounts. It's so important for me to see the Logan's start their journey to closure and bid farewell to their son in a way that they deserve.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Bless you all.
