My siblings and I are hoping you'll read some of her story...
and see what a incredibly dedicated mother she has been to her 27 year old autistic son with a severe epilepsy disorder. His seizures started at age 10 with his first being a grand mal seizure with which he nearly died. From birth she has had to care for him 24/7, but from 10 until 27, it has significantly increased. Since breaking his leg from a fall from a seizure 4 years ago, he has been bed ridden. He is tube fed, water has to be pushed every hour, and every 2 hours he has to be diapered and turned. Because he is a grown man, it's huge job that truly needs 2-3 people doing. However, it's just her taking care of him. After being on a waiting list for 20 years, Sammy's name finally came up and she was able to get a small 5 hours a day income for caring for him. That is her only income.
6 weeks ago, his mother and our sister, Sheri, had severe abdominal pain. She had 2 perforated ulcers one in her stomach, that had to be patched and one in small intestine that had to be cut out and intestine reconnected. She nearly died that day from sepsis, respiratory failure, and kidney failure. After surgery she was on a ventilator for a week and then spent 2 more weeks in the hospital. She is now home recovery. She cannot lift, or take care of Sammy for another 6-8 weeks with guarded care.
As her siblings we are doing as much as we can for her....financially, driving there to help out (4 hour drive) to give much needed rest to those who are caring for Sammy and his full- time needs, but with families of our own and limited finances....it just isn't enough. Sammy's care is 100% of every day and while he has Medicare and disability (not much), it's very difficult to pay their every day bills. She has lost income already for 6 weeks and will lose another 6-8 weeks....and there are just misc. needs that need to be taken care....too many to list. Sheri also has so little money, she can't afford cheapest Obama care but the little income she receives disqualifies her from Medicaid.
It is our desire that they both be taken care of financially and physically. We have come up with an amount to cover her loss of wages for her time off and some of Sammy's other needs.
Would you consider helping with a financial donation to help cover these costs?
Any amount is appreciated $5, $10, $20, $50.....every amount helps.
"The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'
Thank you from Deneva, Jimmy and Lisa
