Let Your Colors Show

As a multidisciplinary artist, I have entertained a life-long fascination with the interplay of colors. I wanted to find a way to introduce children to basic color theory, so I set about writing and illustrating a book called Opal And The Rainbow World.
Opal is the "everychild" of perpetual wonder who holds the key to releasing the colors of the rainbow. Concerned about where she belongs, she embarks on a journey that takes her through the lands of the different colors of the spectrum in search of her true home. Her story is sprinkled with whimsy, riddles, and rhymes. Each land holds its own magic and problems, bringing Opal closer to understanding her unique gift.
I am hoping the book will be published, but in the meantime, I began reconceiving the story as a musical. This project is to bring the Audio Musical of Opal And The Rainbow World and companion CD, "Let Your Colors Show" , to completion. I have recorded all of the songs and the accompanying narration, but will need help coming up with funds to complete the mixing and mastering. (See attached video for a preview)
This is my second undertaking of this nature. My first is children's folk CD available on CDBaby.com called "Sunshiny Day", a collection of songs written during a time in my life when I worked directly with children on a daily basis. Composing little songs was part of my bag of tricks.
For a contribution of $25 you will receive an autographed double CD set of "Opal And The Rainbow World - The Audio Musical" and companion CD "Let Your Colors Show". I'm hoping for a fall release, which allows 3-4 months to reach my goal.
With so many cutbacks in arts funding and education, I feel a responsibility to do my part to open young minds to the joy of self-expression. This musical story is as much about empowerment, self-discovery, and embracing possibilities as it is about colors.
