Save Pete's Pond!
Blue Mountains Conservancy purchased Pete's Pond about a year ago as part of our mission to protect open, natural lands from development. This property provides unique, secure habitat for many nesting birds species, bats, deer and aquatic species including the western painted turtle, a species of concern in Oregon. It has given us the ability to host multiple educational opportunities for the community, including a public bat night and an Outdoor School this spring where over 150 kids participated in hands-on learning. We are also working hard to eradicate noxious weeds and instead plant native, riparian flowers and shrubs.
And yet...in the face of a drought and groundwater decline Pete's Pond is rapidly disappearing!!
Please help us raise enough money to purchase a solar-powered pump to continue to provide habitat for wildlife, educational opportunities for out local school kids, and semi-public space where native plants can thrive. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! Thank you to those who have already donated toward the cause, and to the rest of you for your generosity.
