Running in memory of Sophie
I sadly lost my little sister Sophie in May following a short but brave battle with cancer. As you can imagine this has hit us all incredibly hard, especially her husband and two children.
Therefore in Sophies memory, together with two of my best friends Rachel & Rachael we have decided to take part in the Great South Run on the 16th October. We will be raising money for a small independant charity called Wiltshire Treehouse, who do wonderful work in helping families cope with grief.
Did you know that In the UK alone, a parent of a child dies every 22 minutes; that’s around 23,600 deaths a year and equates to around 111 children bereaved of a parent every day? This is heartbreaking.
The run is 10 miles and something we will have to train for!! So thank you in advance for any donation you are able to make - big or small !! We will be so grateful.
Our aim is to raise enough money for 4 families to have access to the intense family support programme "a day to remember"
More information about Wiltshire Treehouse: We believe every child & young person should have access to support during their grieving process. We aim to improve the lives of the children, young people & the families we support by providing: (1) tailored support for the needs of child(ren) & family; (2) guidance to help families manage themselves; (3) groups for similarly aged children & teenagers; (4) guidance & advice to practitioners of bereaved children & young people; and (5) training to professionals involved in the child's life.
Thanks so much for your support,
Lots of love
Cassie, Rachel & Rachael
