June 11, 2016:
Patty Marin, the bravest person we have ever known left us, all too soon. As she was wheeled into the operating room, her final word to the world was "PEACE!" as only she could say. Time and time again, she elected to be bold in the face of fear and uncertainty, and this time was no different. Patty was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, tia, and friend. She breathed life and color into every room she entered. She was loud and crazy and unpredictable, and that's why we loved her. She was our Superwoman.
But our Superwoman had a kryptonite that only a handful of people knew about: she was born with a heart murmer. For 47 vibrant years, she embraced and lived with this murmer. Over the last few of those years, it was taking a huge toll on her, so she ultimately decided she didn't want to deal with it anymore. She wanted to run, to hike, to Zumba. SHE WANTED TO DANCE. She elected to be bold and undergo an operation to restore her heart -- but long-story short, she's dancing NOW, but not here with us. She's dancing among the angels for her Lord.
As we make my mother's end-of-life arrangements, we humbly ask for your help. This outcome was unexpected, and we are in need of funds to help with the expenses of giving our Superwoman the burial and services -- and the PEACE -- she deserves. She touched the lives of many with her joyful spirit. If you are able to give any amount in her honor, we would greatly appreciate your financial gifts in lieu of flowers.
We know that many of you have stories to share of your memories with her, so details for services will soon follow.
We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.
