i moved to great barrington in the winter of 2007, and in the  span of my first two days here, i needed help for my dead battery. both cardinale ( baba louie's ) and martin, who were both very busy, stopped to help me out. 
i was so overjoyed to have moved into a community where the old fashioned concept of good neighbor was the rule and not the exception.

the fire that broke out in the  kitchen of martin's on june 9th has left this fabulous downtown eatery closed for an undetermined amount of time. . .while i will sorely miss the mcmartin and the eggs benedcit, i am sure the loss of wages to all of the employees is a greater loss. i am not sure how much money is needed to tide evryone over, but i am sure that whatever we as a community can put together, will make these days easier for our friends at martin's. give what you can 
no matter how small, as these are the moments that define us as a community.
