Frederick Santos is a student graduating senior at The Juanita Sanchez Complex (JSEC) and a leader to our schools well known Kindness Initiative "The Kindness Crew." Frederick is set to begin the Talent Development Program at The University of Rhode Island next week with the hopes of returning one day to PPSD as a gym teacher. Frederick is one of the most resilient young men I have ever encountered. He is a state champion in wrestling and a role model to middle school students in the Beat the Streets wrestling program throughout Providence Schools. To say he is going to be amazing is an understatement.
Frederick and his entire family survived CoVid-19 except for his father who needed hospitalization and further care to address it. Unfortunately this was not enough and early this morning he lost his battle to CoVid-19 and the family is in disbelief. A breadwinner, caretaker, hard worker and dedicated are all just some of the words Frederick uses when describing his father. This loss was sudden, unexpected and certainly unplanned.
The family is trying to gather enough funds to be able to provide closure and celebration to an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. The Juanita Sanchez High School is putting this GoFund me together in hopes to raise funds and alleviate this additional stressor.
Frederick being a leader and caregiver himself is second guessing college to stay and support his family and I know this assistance will help alleviate so much and hopefully allow for Frederick to further his education in college.
