Hi everyone! It’s me, Clefford again, just asking for a little help. As many of you may already know, I was born with a cleft palette both of the hard and soft as well as cleft lips on both sides. Being born this way, both of my moms (from the time I was born via C-section) decided that I had a chance to be one of the best dogs in all of the world, so they gave me a chance.
I was cared for 24/7. Between feedings every two hours, making sure I could use the bathroom okay, and making sure I was still breathing in general was very time consuming for them both. But they prevailed.
I learned that I had 6 other brothers and sisters that barked like me and two who would just hiss and stare.
I also learned I have SO many family members that love me.. from so many places and even states!
As I got older my cleft palates started to close (yay!) but not my lips. Plus on top of that I had a wicked heart murmur (boo!). Worried, my mom took me to her job and got what they call an ultra sound of my heart which showed something called VSD or I have a small hole in my heart that never closed (a cleft if you will) Good news however, it was super small and it maybe closed by the time I am 1 years old!
Older I got and my adult teeth finally started coming in... in the wrong direction; my teeth were growing sideways into my cleft. Intervention time.
My mom took me over to Veterinary Dentistry Services to see Dr. Carlos to see what could be done to help and boy was that great. Dr Carlos looked at my teeth and what he could see of my hard palate and we came up with a game plan...
Since I will be a year old on Jan 22nd, it’s about time for me to get “neutered” or whatever that means, as well as fix my hard/ soft palate. So this is where We all ask for Your help.
Because of all the time and effort spend into taking care of me, my moms and I are asking for donations for my surgeries (two total: 1st is to have a CT done of my skull to help Dr Carlos make a plan to fix my palate and at the same time have the Wonderful Dr Kinsey to fix his soft palate and neuter. Than, a month or so later, over to VDS for surgery #2 to have his hard palate fixed). My moms also were talking about something with getting a job after called a “therapy dog”. I mean, if that means I can hang out with strangers and gets treats... I’m all game! But that also cost dollars.
For all the hard work my moms have done and all the money already spent, can you help their low bank accounts for my surgeries? They both promise to donate any proceedings to the Cleft Palate Puppies Rescue that one of my moms works with regularly to help more pups like myself. Anything helps and please, don’t forget to share!
With love and forever wet kisses
Clefford Humphrey ❤️
