Rick's Medical Recovery Fund

My brother Rick was on a family reunion trip in Montana on August 13, when he had a sudden and severe heart attack. It was over an hour drive to the nearest hospital. The paramedics took over 20 mins to show up. During that time, he had no pulse. Fortunately, two family members were certified in CPR and began working on him immediately. They took turns until the paramedics arrived. Even then, it took several more minutes and six hits with the defibrillator to regain a pulse. He was airlifted to the nearest hospital and underwent emergency heart surgery. Doctors were skeptical that Rick would ever regain consciousness, much less ever talk or walk again. After 5 days in a medically induced coma, a miracle happened. He woke up. He knew his name, address, birthdate, and even knew what state he was in. It was truly a miracle for him to have no noticeable brain damage after being so long without a pulse.

We are all so happy to have him back with us. He's going to have a very long recovery and will require supplemental oxygen for several months. Hospital bills are mounting and he will be out of work for several months as well.

Anything will help. I'm setting up this page to raise money to help him get back on his feet. He worked two jobs to support his wife and son, and any contribution will help to alleviate the financial burden he will be facing.
