Strong Like Jenny Paul
On November 27, 2020 (while visiting family in Maryland) Jenny was admitted to the hospital for severe abdominal pain. Upon admission to Upper Chesapeake Hospital, a CT scan was performed. The CT scan revealed that something did not look right with Jenny's appendix and an appendectomy was recommended. The surgery was performed later that day and Jenny remained at Upper Chesapeake for a couple days to recover. A few days after being discharged, Jenny received a call from her surgeon. The pathology from Jenny's surgery revealed Stage IV appendix cancer, specifically goblet cell carcinoma. Needless to say, we were all shocked and overwhelmed. But quickly, we rallied to research the disease and the best course of action moving forward.
Through research and advice from appendix cancer support groups, Jenny was lead to Dr. Armando Sardi at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Sardi is a leading surgical oncologist, specializing in complex cancers of the abdomen. After meeting with Dr. Sardi, the recommended course of action is for Jenny to undergo HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) surgery, which is scheduled for January 12, 2021. This is an intense surgery, Jenny will remain at Mercy anywhere from 7-20 days for recovery. She will then stay at our parents house in Bel Air for several more weeks before making the trip home to Davidson. We know that God is good and he will walk with Jenny through this surgery and her recovery. Your continued prayers are appreciated!
