Help our perrito fight IMHA

It just happened out of nowhere.

Feefer is me and my families first and  only pup. We adopted this little guy when he was a 3 month old bunch of fur. He's an energetic little miniature schnauzer. We've had him for 7 almost 8 years.

Fifi has always been the kind of dog to follow you everywhere. And I mean everywhere including the shower.  He loves us unconditionally like no love I've ever felt. He waits by the door till we come home and sleeps with me half the night then sleeps with my mom for the rest  to make sure she doesn't get jealous. He's got a big heart this one. This dog is like a child to us we would do anything for him. He's my best pal.

Last week he became very lethargic. His once hyperactive demeanor became slow and lazy. When I'd take him for walks It always felt like he was taking me for walks but not lately...we noticed lately he began walking much slower than usual.  As if his body weighs a thousand pounds. It got scary when he began peeing dark blood. My mom called me from work crying that morning to tell me there was something wrong with him and that's where the nightmare began.

i would have never thought this would happen to him. One minute hes perfect and jumping up on me to greet me. Its just too real. I woke up to him laying on the couch, dripplettes of blood and a pile of vomit on the floor.

We immediately took him to the vet and got every exam we could to figure out why his pee was almost black. We were told his blood found its way into his urine and his kidneys were enlarged and that he could die if we didn't get him to a 24 hour hospital immediately. We rushed to the ASPCA where they began doing more exams to find the exact cause for his sickness. For days he wouldn't eat, drink or move at all. He's been lifeless.

We waited for the results and our biggest fear became reality. We found out he has a potentially deadly disease  called IMHA ( immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia). FIfi's immune system is messed up and mistakenly produces antibodies that attack its own red blood cells. For no reason at all. Which explains why his pee is black because of all the old blood floating around and why he wont eat drink or move. Thats gonna mean medication everyday possibly blood transfusions or bone marrow transplants to get him back to normal. We could lose him without these medical treatments.

We had to go back to the hospital every single day for the past few days to monitor his condition and yesterday his red blood cell went from 27% ,which is not normal to ,17%! in one night ...which meant he could die if we waited any longer. We were not prepared for this news. The doctor gave us he option either a costly blood transplant that may or may not work or put him down. The choice was obvious. He's now on steroids but the steroids could take weeks to kick in. He got his first blood transfusion and had to put IV fluid in him because he just won't eat anything.  We need to be able to keep him  hospitalized over night to minitor his blood but it could run up a few thousands and we really need some help. I work full time and barely make enough to take care of my own expenses and medical bills are very expensive. We've asked foundations to help u cover the costs but the only responses we've gotten so far is that they don't handle immediate emergency treatments and we were told we'd have to pay out of pocket for everything.  I couldnt live with myself without knowing I've tried everything in my power to keep him from hurting and get him on the road to recovery so we can get our hyper little baby back on his feet. I miss him barking at the door every 5 seconds even though it was he most annoying thing in the world I would give anything to be annoyed by him again. He's family. He still has a chance to beat this, we need him back. Help us get our baby back.

I can provide all records of bills and payment recipts upon request. All proceeds will be spent on his treatments and anything left over will be put aside for his medication and saved for future emergency blood transfusions he might need.
