I am working with Trust In Education, a grass-roots organization that provides education, health and economic assistance to villages in Afghanistan. Trust in Education has an office in Kabul and an office here in Lafayette, California. The founder of the program is Budd Mackenzie, a graduate of Berkeley law. They have funded building of schools and classes of 25 teachers, in 10 villages (attended by 500 boys and 750 girls) and want to educate the younger generation to build the country from the ground up. Many children do not have access to any education and since the Taliban forbade educating girls, the literacy rate for girls in the country is at 10%. I have visited Afghanistan twice and it breaks my heart to see children as young as 3 years old begging on the streets or selling gum instead of being in school.

My efforts will be to open a computer library in Mazar at a location where technology is not available. The computer library will give access to technology to children in a remote location. Trust in Education has been working with Khan Academy to provide free educational programs in Dari, Farsi and Pashtu (the three main dialects in the country). In an effort to spread this access I am opening a library in Mazar, but need your help! Any monetary donation will be appreciated for now. We are in the logistics phase to get all the supplies and to designate a specific location for the library.

The funds will initiate the library and provide one years rent for the location!!!
