Covid Support for Kenya

As most of you know, the time I spent at the Ruben Centre in Kenya was very special to me. I hoped to go back to visit Ruben in 2020, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, that was not possible. In Australia, I am fortunate to have my daily comforts and access to a functional health and welfare system. It has pained me to watch my friends who supported me in Ruben and invited me into their homes struggle over the past year. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant job loss and financial strain. Many people in the slum are struggling even just to feed their families.
On 1st May, I will be participating in the Busselton Half Ironman. Although I have complained to some of you about how tough the training has been, I am well aware that it is nothing compared to what many people around the world are facing day-to-day. Keeping this at the forefront of my mind has helped me get through some of the tough training sessions. And it will definitely give me the extra strength I need on the day!
I am raising money to support the people of Mukuru Kwa Ruben slum. Together with my colleagues at the Ruben Centre, we have decided to put the money raised towards food hampers for the families who are most in need and to buy much needed PPE supplies for medical staff at the centre.
I am very grateful for the support you have all given me and for any money that you can donate to this cause.
